It is with a heavy heart that we announce our founder and owner, Tim Price, passed away unexpectedly.

As a Colorado native growing up in the mountains, living and playing in the outdoors was always Tim’s way of life.

Over the years, Tim’s passion of being outside translated into being a triathlete, multi-sport adventure racer, rafting guide, kayak safety boater, instructor for Rocky Mountain Adventures, ski patroller, backcountry guide, and much more.

What tied all his outdoor passions together was wilderness survival skills. Tim spent years helping people avoid danger, mitigate risk, and deal with any problems that arose.

His first dog, Ruger, was a total game changer for Tim as his new adventure companion meant preparing for a new set of unknowns. His biggest fear was that Ruger could become injured and unable to move.

That fear inspired Tim to create his first product, The Back Country. A lightweight rescue harness that ensured he’d never have to leave Ruger’s side if he is injured.

After creating The Back Country harness, Tim realized there was so much more he could create to help people enjoy the outdoors with their dogs — whether in nature or the city.

So Tim created and curated many high-quality products that helped 4-legged companions adventure safely. And Ruff Rescue Gear grew to have customers and fans around the world.

Ruff Rescue Gear was also featured by Good Morning America, PBS, and NBC.

In Tim’s memory, we encourage you to get outside as he always loved a good adventure.

Tim’s family is currently determining the future of Ruff Rescue Gear. We thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. And we will keep everyone updated.
